Jurgens Contractors was started by Theodore Jurgens in 1962 as T.C. Jurgens and Sons Contractors.Ownership of the company passed to his son David Jurgens who held the role of Managing Director untill retiremnt in 2024 with Cameron Jurgens now running the show.
Athletic Park in Wellington, the Methanix plant in Taranaki, the Laminix plant in Taupo,The Wanganui Affco plant and the freezing works in Invercargill followed. Significant Civil Constrction projects have also been undertaken around the country.

The company has expanded into specialised units carrying out concrete cutting, asbestos removal, strip-outs, salvage, concrete crushing, complete demolition, scrap recovery, Earthworks and plant hire.
The company had many of their speclised team and gear relocacted to christchuch as part of the works to demolish the building damaged by the 2011 earthquake.
